Skill Tree

The very first thing you need to do is to get to know your skill tree for the best build for your style of playing.

When concidering which skills to use keep in mind the build you are after and your role in the party, how much pvp you will be doing or if you are going to simply be support.

WIZARDRY ~ Offensive magic

When it comes to active skills it is best to keep to either Fire Ball or Blaze Wall as they both do the exact same amount of damage. This will strengthen your attacks in the long run. I find the AOE of Blaze Wall very useful for leveling and in pvp/pk to hit more then one target.

Soul Drain is also a great skill for an added ‘instant’ skill. Very useful for pvp/pk that has more then twice the damage of the other attacks, the only down side to this skill is the cool down time which prevents you from using that as your main attack skill.

Keep in mind however attacking is not the evokers main role in a normal skill build. Level up your summon, summon renews, heals and decurse, buffs and only then think about putting sp on a attack skill. The idea of an evoker either pvp or support is that the summon will do most of the fighting for you if no all of it.

Fire Ball (Active)
Send a ball of flame at enemy

Max Damage : Dependant on skill level starting at 90
< Level Up : Increases Damage>

Casting Time : 1 second
MP Consume : Depends on the skills level
Cool Time : None

The bonus to fire ball is that it starts off with 1 sp already on it as your base attack skill so you can keep precious sp for other skills.

Soul Drain (Active)
Drain health from enemy to heal party members.

Casting Time : Instant
MP Consume : Depends on the skills level
Cool Time : 15 seconds

My favorite addition to the evokers skill set, great for getting those runners on low health who coward out of the fight at the last moment.

Blaze Wall (Active)
Damage enemies with a wall of unbearable heat.

Success Rate : Proportionate to character and skill level
Max Damage : Dependant on skill level starting at 90 (AOE)

Cast Time : 1 second
MP Consume : Depends on the skills level
Cool Time : None

The higher the skill level the more chance of the AOE hitting together with the special upgrade of your weapon.

Fire wall is my attack of choice with the aoe effect it is quicker to kill groups of mobs and the enemy nation as long as you can handle the damage and keep up with the healing. I find this good for solo leveling.

Remember with both Fire Ball and Blaze Wall as a ranged skill, cast time and cool down also depend on how far the skill will have to travel to the target before you can recast, resending an attack. So the times stated with vary.

CONJURATION ~ Summon magic

The most important skills for being an evoker as the summon gives the class its strengh. I would advise getting Summon Gladiator (melee) or Summon Stormer (range) to aide you in leveling up until you can get Summon Protector. Once you can get Summon Protector reset your skills so that it is the only summon you have.

You can reset all your skills 10 times before you get level 30 and once after so you have room to try things in the begining.

Summon Protector will take the damage done to the evoker allowing you to either heal it or depending on the situation run to safety, therefore making it the best choice. It is then up to you if you decide to get a second summon later on however at low levels save your sp for the most important skills. For more on summons see the post titled ‘Summons, Things to know about summons and summoning.’

A good skill to have just based on the fact it helps aide in keeping you alive. Really no need to put more than one sp on it as more sp does not increase how fast you go only the time the buff lasts.

Useful to have as it works like a defense buff however you only need one sp on it as upgrading this skill only adds to the lasting time so theres no need.

RESTORATION ~ Defensive Magic

It is highly recommended that you get all the heals as soon as you can. Extra heal, party heal then plain heal, based on cast time and usefulness. If you keep leveling the heals in that order you will find it easier to stay alive and keep the people around you alive. Cure is a must have greatly concidering all the debuffs that you will come across especially when pvp. Invisible is an optional skill though handy to have as it will break the agro a mob has on you or the selection lock in pvp.

Gifts of Elerd

Gifts of Elerds are way to make up for the lack of stats on our accessaries, earrings, necklaces and rings etc. Plain and simply put. So yes they are worth leveling up to keep your stats comparative to that of the enemy of the same level as you. Only Elerd have these buffs. Note they don’t take sp to level up only tp so level them as soon as you can. Everyone should at least get Mystic bone and Mystic ocean. Summoners will need Mystic force on top of that as it adds intelligance which helps with the power of spells.

Summons

Things to know about summons and summoning.

First things first. Get a summoning skill as described in the skill tree. Without the skill you can’t summon.

Summon Gladiator

Melee summon in action

Summon Stormer

Summon Protector

You will also need the tends as they make the summon stronger and give it more HP so that it lives longer. Even though there are three summon types there are only two tends as the saber uses a mix of both range and melee.

Before summoning you will need to buy mental crystal from tool shop which you can find in every town and outpost. Each time you summon you will need 1 piece of mental crystal. Note that if you are killed or die that your summon will disappear and you will have to summon a new one.
